Matt Winson is the Dutch answer to Patrick Watson, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes. The band delivers catchy Folksongs with polyphonic vocals and instruments like banjo, trumpet and mandoline.
Oscillate means to move back and forth between point A and B. The title of the album serves as a metaphor for a wide array of subjects that return on the album; from the polarizing movement in the political climate, to a bipolar disorder – in which someone moves from a depressive to a manic state (and back) – to the darkness of the night and the brightness of the day. Soundwaves are a form of oscillation as well. To ensure the theme of the album within the artwork, a selection of mountainous landscapes has been chosen. The mountain ridges oscillate through the landscape, similar to the mathematical visualization of an oscillation.
