Reeditado por Music On Vinyl en 2017 “Girlfriend” es el título del tercer trabajo de estudio del músico y compositor Matthew Sweet. Publicado originalmente en 1991 y producido por Sweet junto a Fred Maher (Lou Reed, Lloyd Cole) consta de 12 canciones en las que Matthew da un salto cualitativo respecto a los dos álbumes predecesores. Ésta reedición en vinilo de 180 gramos contiene inserto interior de 6 páginas.
Matthew Sweet is an American rock singer-songwriter and musician. In 1991 Matthew released Girlfriend, the pop-rock album which was widely considered an artistic breakthrough. It quickly garnered impressive sales, spawning a top 10 single with the title track.
Matthew Sweet tocó en bandas en Athens, GA cuando esa escena explotó, colaborando con REM. Michael Stipe, tocando en Oh-OK de Linda Stipe y The Buzz Of Delight. Ese trabajo lo llevó al mundo de los grandes sellos discográficos haciendo innumerables discos en solitario aclamados, formando el supergrupo The Thorns con Shawn Mullins y Pete Droge, y comenzando una serie de álbumes de versiones con Susannah Hoffs de The Bangles.
